Job Title: Clinical Documentation Auditor

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Clinical Documentation Auditor to join our partner organization. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing clinical documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory and coding standards. You will collaborate with healthcare providers and coding teams to improve documentation quality and support optimal reimbursement and patient care outcomes. This position is ideal for professionals passionate about healthcare quality, compliance, and data integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Review and audit clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
Ensure adherence to coding guidelines (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and regulatory standards
Identify documentation gaps and provide recommendations for improvement
Collaborate with physicians, coders, and clinical staff to enhance documentation quality
Support Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) initiatives
Prepare audit reports and present findings to stakeholders
Monitor trends and track key documentation and compliance metrics
Assist in training and educating staff on best practices in clinical documentation
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulations
Stay updated with industry standards, coding updates, and regulatory changes
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, or related field
1–3 years of experience in clinical documentation, medical coding, auditing, or related role
Strong understanding of medical terminology and clinical documentation practices
Familiarity with coding systems (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS)
Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards
Strong analytical and attention-to-detail skills
Good communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred Qualifications
Certification such as Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent
Experience in Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) programs
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EMR) systems
Knowledge of reimbursement methodologies and payer requirements
Experience conducting audits and preparing compliance reports
Strong organizational and time management skills
