Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and quality of clinical documentation. In this role, you will collaborate with healthcare providers to improve documentation practices, support accurate coding, and enhance overall data integrity. This position is ideal for individuals interested in healthcare quality, compliance, and documentation excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Review clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and specificity
Collaborate with physicians and healthcare staff to clarify documentation
Ensure alignment between clinical documentation and coded data
Identify documentation gaps and provide improvement recommendations
Support accurate reimbursement and compliance with regulations
Conduct concurrent and retrospective chart reviews
Educate providers on best practices for clinical documentation
Maintain detailed records of queries and documentation updates
Monitor trends and identify opportunities for process improvement
Assist in internal and external audits
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health Information Management, or related field
Active RN, RHIT, RHIA, or CCS certification (as applicable)
2–4 years of experience in clinical documentation, coding, or healthcare quality
Strong knowledge of ICD-10 coding and clinical documentation standards
Familiarity with healthcare regulations and reimbursement processes
Excellent analytical and attention-to-detail skills
Strong communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in CDI roles within hospital or healthcare systems
Certification such as CCDS or CDIP
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems
Knowledge of DRG methodologies and case mix index (CMI)
Strong problem-solving and training skills
