Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated Junior Backend Engineer to join our partner organization in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The ideal candidate will assist in developing, maintaining, and optimizing server-side applications and APIs while collaborating with frontend developers and product teams.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain server-side logic, databases, and APIs
Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with backend services
Participate in code reviews, debugging, and testing
Ensure scalability, security, and performance of backend systems
Maintain documentation for backend processes and development standards
Support deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of applications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
0–2 years of experience in backend development (internships/projects count)
Proficiency in at least one backend language (Java, Python, Node.js, etc.)
Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Good communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with RESTful APIs and web services
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
Familiarity with version control systems (Git)
Understanding of security best practices and testing frameworks
