Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Records Compliance Specialist to join our partner healthcare organization in Kansas City, Missouri. In this role, you will ensure that medical records are accurate, secure, and compliant with healthcare regulations and standards. This position is ideal for professionals interested in health information management, compliance auditing, and data governance.

Key Responsibilities
Review and audit medical records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
Ensure adherence to healthcare regulations and privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA)
Identify discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions
Maintain secure handling and storage of patient information
Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative staff
Prepare compliance reports and documentation
Support internal and external audits and accreditation processes
Assist in improving documentation practices and compliance workflows
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field
0–2 years of experience in medical records, compliance, or healthcare administration
Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation
Understanding of privacy regulations and compliance standards
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Good communication and organizational abilities
Preferred Qualifications
Certification such as RHIT, RHIA, or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)
Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
Familiarity with auditing tools and compliance processes
Knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation standards
Ability to manage multiple records and meet deadlines efficiently
