Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Medical Records Quality Analyst to join our partner organization in Kansas City, Missouri. In this role, you will review, audit, and ensure the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of medical records. This position is ideal for professionals with a keen eye for detail, knowledge of healthcare documentation standards, and a focus on data integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Review and audit medical records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with healthcare regulations
Identify discrepancies or missing information and communicate findings to relevant departments
Support process improvements for medical records documentation and quality assurance
Maintain detailed records of audits, findings, and corrective actions
Collaborate with medical staff, HIM (Health Information Management) teams, and compliance officers
Ensure adherence to HIPAA and other regulatory standards for patient information
Generate reports and metrics on medical records quality and trends
Assist with training and guidance on documentation best practices
Required Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field
1–3 years of experience in medical records review, quality assurance, or HIM operations
Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation standards
Strong analytical and attention-to-detail skills
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
Ability to handle confidential patient information with discretion
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or similar certification
Experience in hospital or clinical environments
Familiarity with regulatory standards such as HIPAA and JCAHO
Knowledge of auditing tools and data analysis software
Strong organizational and process improvement skills
