Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and proactive IT Server Support Engineer to join our partner organization in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and supporting server infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security. This position is ideal for professionals with a strong foundation in server administration and a passion for troubleshooting and system optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain Windows and/or Linux servers
Monitor server performance, availability, and system health
Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues
Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups
Manage user access, permissions, and security configurations
Support virtualization environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
Collaborate with IT teams to ensure system reliability and uptime
Maintain documentation for server configurations and processes

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
2–4 years of experience in server support, system administration, or IT infrastructure
Strong knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux operating systems
Experience with server monitoring and troubleshooting tools
Basic understanding of networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP)
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Good communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V)
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
Knowledge of scripting (PowerShell, Bash) for automation
Understanding of backup and disaster recovery processes
Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft, CompTIA, or Linux certifications)
