Munawar Faruqui Born on January 28, 1992, Munawar Iqbal Faruqui is an Indian stand-up comedian, rapper, songwriter, and occasional poet. He appeared in many stand-up comedy stage shows but got fame from Kangana Ranaut’s reality show “Lock Up Season 1” and turned out to be the winner of the show. Currently, he is participating in another India reality show, “Big Boss 17″ (2023).

Personal life and family

Munawar was born and brought up in Junagadh, Gujrat. He was born into a Muslim family. After the communal riots in Gujarat, his family moved to Mumbai, as their homes were completely destroyed during the riots. At the very young age of 13, he saw his mother’s death.

During the riots, he witnessed the destruction and saw how the families lost their loved ones. As soon as they moved to Mumbai, he was the only one earning for the entire family. Reason why he started to work as a labourer in Mumbai. He worked with many small shop owners as a salesman and earned enough to survive with his family. Later, he moved to corporate America, where he started working as a graphic designer. But his passion was making people laugh. So one of his friends notches his efforts and makes the way for him for the first ever stand-up comedy show. And from there, there is no stopping for Munawar.

Munawar Faruqui is married and has a 5-year-old son. During lock-up season 1, he admitted that he got separated from his wife and is working very hard for his son.

He is dating Nazila Sitaishi, who is also a social media influencer.

Munawar Faruqui Career

Munawar started his career in 2020; he runs his own YouTube channel, and earlier, his entire income depended on this channel only. The first stand-up comedy he uploaded was “Dawoo, Yamraj, or Aurat”. In the same year, he released his first song, “Jawab,” collaborating with Indian musician Spectra in August.

In 2021, he uploaded his second stand-up comedy video, “Ghost Story”, which was a big hit and trending during those days. These shows are trending now too; people who got to know Munawar after the lock-up show still prefer to watch those iconic stand-up shows.

In 2022, he appeared in the reality show “Lock Up” and came out as the winner of the show. He was a treat to watch throughout the entire show. In this show, we only got to know that he dances very well. His moves and his sharp mind made him a true winner.

He collaborated with Prince Nara for his rap song “Todh”. Which is a massive hit. People really liked their pairing and appreciated the song.

In 2023, he was the highest-paid contestant on Bigg Boss season 17.

Munawar was performing his stand-up comedy shows in different cities in India. One day he was performing in Indore, and in the middle of the show, police came and arrested him as the BJP MLA of Indore accused him of making fun of Hindu gods and the minister of home affairs in India, Amit Shah. The police did not have enough evidence but still arrested him under the hate speech laws of India. After a few months, he got bail from the Supreme Court of India.
